The SnapChat platform was started about four and one-half years ago and came from an idea that founder Evan Spiegel and his friends came up with while in a class at Stanford (Does any of this sound familiar?}.
Fast forward to today and there are now over 100 million active users and on the platform there are 7 billion daily video views! Some big names have joined, to include the White House, Michelle Obama, and companies as you see above.

The Basics To Using Snapchat

Below are some basic functions so you understand the premise and how to create your posts….
What is A Snap, a Story, and a Chat
These are all terms and part of the language peculiar to the SnapChat app, and you will need to understand them when others start talking about the app.
The first term is Snap. This covers the main functionality of the app and is the term used for the disappearing photos and videos. You can send these directly to other friends using the app. They last anywhere from one second up to ten seconds after being opened, then the “snap” disappears.

The next term is “Story.” This is a collection of your Snaps that you put together to create a tale. Unlike the direct Snaps mentioned above these are open for viewing by anyone who may be following you.
So as you make Snaps, then send that Snap to your Story, the Snap becomes public to your all of your followers. Note that Stories can last up to 24 hours, then will disappear, and are limited to 10 seconds in length.
This one sounds like a familiar term, right? Well yes it is in some ways similar, and in others, not so much. How you use it on SnapChat is by swiping right on a person’s name in your direct Snap inbox,
When you do this, a chat function will appear on your screen. On the receiving end, you will know that you’ve received a chat because a blue speech bubble will appear next to someone’s name.
Note that Chats will also disappear after being opened….
