INTRODUCTION

This is part four of a ten part series on methods you can use in your marketing strategy to increase the volume of free traffic to your site, your products or service, or to your call to action pages…

Traffic is something that people pay for often, but using free traffic methods can supplement your PPC or solo ads and provide you a significant amount of traffic at NO cost.

This is the reason I decided to expand on some of the methods you can consider into single reports as opposed to trying to lightly cover the 10 best I use in one post.

It gives me the opportunity to drill down a lot more on each type of action and also provide you the reader with some more valuable information at the end of each post that you can use…

This tactic is one that I particularly like, because it offers an opportunity to get you name out there and have the information you provide  out to literally thousands of people…

The viral aspect means that the information can be spread by others and it literally takes on a life of its own! I also have a suggested tool that you can use to help get it started that I will mention, and there is a review you can read right here on this site!

WHAT IS A VIRAL REPORT

The word viral has become more in vogue these days, and contrary to the literal translation, it is NOT a report on a virus. The concept has become popular

The concept has become popular more-so since the advent of the many social platforms that are used by literally over a billion people in some cases.

The way to monetize th viral phenomena was always a problem, but thanks to the many smart minds out in the IM world, now there are many tools that help you get the viral process started. Once such tool I just reviewed here ===> BUZZINAR <===

So going back to what a viral report is , basically it is a short, focused special report and then marketing them using several techniques we will mention below to leverage the effort of hundreds of list owners and website owners to send us their traffic that they share the report with.

There are many advantages of writing viral special reports, but the best is that you spend hours to create a marketing tool that continues to send you highly targeted, hungry traffic months, even years, after release.

By releasing one viral special report each month for a year, you can be generating a stampede of traffic and sales to your online business site(s) that will keep working for you over a long period of time.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE VIRAL REPORTS

There are many reasons to use this technique. You spend hours creating this report, and it can continue to send you highly targeted, hungry to take action traffic months or even years after you release it.

This again is free traffic, other than the time and effort you spend to get it together. This means that if you prepare one a month over a year period, you will have 12 reports that continue to be spread throughout the internet from the time they are published.

Much like blog posts or articles that focus on keywords, it will continue to draw interested prospects. To make these effectively, there are certain characteristics and guidelines you need to follow.

HOW TO CREATE A VIRAL REPORT

As mentioned, there are some considerations when you prepare such reports…

(1) Title.

Your title has to be attention-grabbing and compelling. Remember that this is your best and only chance to get people to stay on the topic and look at what you have written.

The title is often the main way that others will market your special report for you. They will use the title to link to your report, so that title HAS to be captivating. it better be good. To master great title writing you need to know how to quickly research your market for demand and understand the basics of great advertising. We cover both in-depth within the Information Marketer’s Zone.

This means that you need to know what the market in your niche is looking for, and use keywords that will be ones that they are looking for and need. It will require some research on your part, and of course understand how to advertise effectively.

(2) Know your Customer(s).

Realize that when you research and prepare these reports, you have two customers – the end readers and the people that will pass your report to their leads or social contacts.

So the information that you include in your report needs to not only add value to the end reader, but also the presentation and format that you use must be of the caliber that will cause the distributors to push  the report out to their contacts which will start the viral outbreak process.

(3) Make the Report Brandable.

Whoever is going to pass on the report to their contacts needs to have a means to add in their own links and market it as their own. You can leave your links in the report as well, but allow them to add in their logo, site, name, contact information etc. as you deem appropriate. This will make it a LOT easier to convince them to use and spread your report.

I have seen  most are delivered in PDF format, and using the many branding tools available for that format you can allow the user to add in their own information as you decide is allowable.

This is an automated process and is scalable, and you do not have to manually change each for the user. The tool will do it for you with the user adding in the information quickly and a iunique copy of the report is generated and delivered to them.

When you do this, it adds to their authority and credibility and will tend to persuade them to use and share the information you are providing for free.

To find one that will work for you is easy. A simple Google search for viral PDF brander will provide many options that you can research and select from.

(4) The BUZZ Factor.

Once you have created your masterpiece, you need to plan on marketing it in the niche. On top of the social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest or similar, you can also add related forum topics to generate discussion and interest.

(5) Provide Supporting Graphics and Squeeze Pages.

Consider adding in an entire package for your distributors to include eCovers, squeeze pages, banners, even email swipes maybe…Anything that will make it easy for your potential distributors  to market the report to their contacts.

These graphics need to be professional in appearance and also editable so the contact information can be changed to the person using it for their leads. They will more likely actually use your report if this is provided to them.

This is the same concept as when you provide affiliate info for your products if selling through an affiluate network. You want to make it easy as possible for them to get it published and drawing traffic, whether they are using their website, a newsletter, a social page, etc.

HOW TO WRITE YOUR VIRAL REPORT

There are many factors that help or cause content to go viral. Most have some or all of the following characteristics:

(1) The content elicits an emotional reaction in the reader.

(2) The message you are sending causes a reaction of a positive nature as opposed to a negative reaction.

(3) The content is of interest to the intended audience, it is practical and useful, and it is written in such a way that it also entertains and keeps the interest of the reader.

(4) Use a variety of visual stimulation tools such as graphics, pictures, videos, etc. that will push the stimulation “buttons” people react to.

(5) As stated above, make the report brandable for the potential reader that will share the report with others, and provide the associated materials to make this easy.

CONCLUSION

Although advances in the now many social platforms people use to share information has changed the landscape when it comes to viral reports, the useof these can still add to your free traffic tool arsenal.

Make the reports interesting, use catchy headlines, provide valuable information that the target audience will want to read about,. make it easy for others to share the content, and market the finished report using the social platforms.

Consider adding in an incentive for sharing, i,e, a contest or a free and valuable giveaway for sharing your eBook or report. Use some of the tools like Buzzinar to get the viral process started, and incentivise potential sharers in some manner.

This tool has been around for 10-12 years now in a big way, and although the game has changed somewhat, it can still work for you and your effort to get more free traffic.

  1. Personally, I do not see viral reports much anymore used as giveaways. Sometimes when I am thinking of buying a tool or software, a free report will be offered to stay on the page, and of course, the site will ask me to provide my contact information using a pop-up. This is where I see it working best in today’s internet marketing, visitors to your site are getting more sophisticated, and they want something that will really provide value…

Hi Zaylin, you may be right on your opinion… I too see viral reports used less than before… Today I think we should focus more on giving away software or minimal ebooks on current subjects that are of interest in the market… For IM, an example might be Facebook Live… Thanks for sharing your thoughts and please do stop by again… Cheers!
