INTRODUCTION

This is our fifth training lesson in a 10 part series on tools that you can use to generate free traffic for your online marketing business. Each of the ten offers effective methods for you to get the attention of a set of potential subscribers for free…

Today’s subject could be broken down into three actually, because there is so much information and things you need to know about each. Rather than that I have grouped these related tools into one, and we will go through each in some detail.

After the training, I will have some free downloads for you with each of the three tools, and you will be able to get even more drill down information for your use if you choose or need it.

Lastly, I also have a course that will be made available to you should you choose to go that route, and this training will provide yet more information on how you can exploit these three communication means to get increased levels of free traffic.

So without further ado, let’s get started!

VISUAL AND INTERACTIVE TOOLS THAT WILL GENERATE FREE TRAFFIC

The three methods we are covering today all have something to do with video…Either streaming and recording, or recording and editing, or streaming on a one-time basis or on a limited time basis, as with webinars.

Each has its uses and advantages, but all three, lumped together, provide an excellent means to get traffic to your site that content alone will not. People love to watch video or renditions of it, it is growing by leaps and bounds. Think Youtube, Vine, the movies, etc.

Let’s start by looking at webinars, then we will move on to streaming video, and finally we will talk about videos. For each, I will describe what the technology is, how it is used in online marketing, and how you can use it effectively  in your own online marketing program.

Webinars

Webinars are internet-based meetings that are viewed by participants over the internet. There are many names used that are synonymous such as online workshops or online seminars.

In the Internet Marketing (IM) world, webinars also have many uses. You can build your brand, generate sales, attract prospects, train groups of people, hold a press conference, broadcast corporate announcements, conduct focus group meetings, etc.

Similar to conference seminars, the difference is that the rather than everyone being in one place people can attend from all over the globe.

Whoever is hosting the webinar provides audio, a chat box, and a screenshot of their screen for all attendees in their web browser. A real benefit of a webinar is the interactive element which is the ability to discuss, give and receive information.

One of the main benefits of a hosting a webinar is having the interactive element available, meaning that participants can discuss, provide and receive information, live and n real time, even if thousands of miles apart.

This differs somewhat from a webcast or a video, in that for the most part, other than Calls To Actions, there is no possibility for such interaction with the presenter.

As the technology has advanced, not only IM people have realized the value that webinars offer. Businesses in all walks of life are using this tool. It saves money, time, and effort. More and more they have started offering webinars.

What makes webinars so attractive to business owners is their flexibility, affordability, efficiency, and effectiveness. There is a tremendous amount of money spent on travel for training and meetings.

Webinars can save lots of resources…

As mentioned, participants in webinars don’t have to travel; they can attend and learn right from their current location at times that are convenient if the webinar is recorded (although some of the interactive aspects or components of a webinar may be lost).

If the webinars are recorded, there is also the evergreen factor. This means they can be used again and again for training, new employee corporate introduction, etc.

Webinars can provide other materials as in a traditional classroom setting. Training materials such as handouts, checklists, mind maps, etc. can be sent to attendees ahead of the webinar via email or a cloud download site, etc.

There are a number of platforms you can use to host or attend a webinar such as Google Hangouts or third party software – all you really need today is a computer, a strong internet connection, and a plan for your webinar.

Another advantage of webinars is the immediacy of the medium. You can get to masses of people live and not have to wait for a conference or a meeting in a centralized location.

They make it possible for colleagues across the globe to meet, work and collaborate as a team. Attendees and presenters can easily participate, learn and interact through Q&A, document sharing, polls and more no matter where they are.

This interchange of information can take place no matter where members may be or what other projects they may be involved in.

The interactions possible using webinars as opposed to having them travel long distances, wasting time and resources, means that the team members can be much more productive for the organization.

Can you see the power of webinars?

Streaming Broadcasts

There are a couple of platforms that are popular and in use, and others that may be less well known but also valuable for your online marketing efforts.

Develop a following using these mediums and you will get free traffic, build your brand, authority, and credibility. Of course, these all lead to more leads and conversions, so success for your online marketing efforts.

There are two that stand out in my mind, one is called Periscope, the other Blab. Also in this vein there are the ones that have been around a while, like Skype, Yahoo Messenger, etc. but the advances in technology mean that all can be effective.

You just have to pick your poison (I mean this in a nice manner)…

Let’s talk briefly about each of the most common ones…

2 2 - FREE TRAFFIC SOURCES SERIES PART FIVE – WEBINARS, STREAMING & VIDEO

Periscope.

Periscope is like you having your own live TV station. It is a live video streaming platform and provides a way to, in a more informal manner, connect and interact with audiences that attend your sessions.

You can video-record and broadcast anywhere in the world using Periscope and the stream can be attended by anyone that chooses to attend. The platform is owned by Twitter and has taken the world by storm over the past couple of years.  many online marketers are using it to build their online brand and business.

Similar to Skype, the difference is that you can have an unlimited number of conference attendees. You can stream your broadcasts to the masses.

To give you an idea how this platform has taken off, in the first ten days, it was operational, one million users joined Periscope. There are people of many ages, genders, and personalities who have joined and use the platform regularly.

As with other social media platforms, Periscope has its own language too…Here are some common terms used in this world…

  • Scoper – This is a person who is using Periscope
  • Scope – This is a Periscope streaming session. Your broadcast is a ‘scope.
  • Hearts – This is how people provide feedback during a scope. Attendees show their interest by tapping and sending hearts which show visually on the stream and of course the total number is added to each scope. It is a measure of how well received your scope is…
  • Replay – You can record the scopes and other copers can replay/review the broadcast….
  • Follow – Similar to other social platforms, scopers can follow one another. This is the same as Facebook, Twitter, Google +, or LinkedIn.

You can either use Periscope with your Twitter account or you can sign up using a separate Periscope account. For this, a telephone number is enough, you do not have to have a Twitter account.

The advantage if you do connect through your Twitter profile is that you can push a notification of your broadcast through Twitter so you can get more audience members for your Scope.

There are any number of subjects that are covered in the scopes. For your online marketing efforts, you can stick to subjects that are in line with the niche. This means anything is fair game regarding the many aspects of online marketing.

It can be a bit discomforting at first when you host a scope for sure. Keys are to have a definite plan in mind before you go live. Make it interesting and informative…

We’ll cover more on this below, but for now, you have a bit more of an understanding what Periscope is and what it can do for your online marketing program I hope…

BLAB

OK, I want to cover in a little bit of depth an even newer platform that is rising rapidly in popularity, and for some very specific reasons…

It is called Blab, and the platform combines the characteristics of several platforms such as Skype, Periscope, What’s App, and even webinars.

I like this better than Periscope, or Skype, or even webinars. Why you ask?

Because using this platform you can have more than one person visually on the dashboard (up to four at a time) while having a chat box where interaction can take place for other attendees.

The concept of Blab is very simple – go tohttps://blab.im/ and from there you can sign up and check it out yourself. You can also sign up at Blab.im and then connect using your Twitter account, which is handy.

On top of the up to four live windows, you can add to the interactions using the chat box.  You can even highlight your text comments as a question, by starting your message with “q”. When you do that it will appear to the left side of the video screens in a separate box.

With Blab, you choose the level of participation…If you want to grab one of 4 video seats available you can show yourself to other participants, or alternatively, just stick with the chat box. The video streaming and audio work well together,

This platform provides chances for many people to participate on the video level, as you can add or take people out of that mode if you are the host. From what I have seen it is a very open community and the participants laid back, not formal at all.

For internet marketing, I see a LOT of potential to run webinar-like Blab that allow MORE interaction between participants, and of course, will allow you to build a fan base that can lead to more traffic on your site if done well (i.e. having a plan)…

I published an article on the usefulness of  BLAB not that long ago over on the Wealthy Affiliate educational platform ( I am a member of that excellent training site)…

Other streaming mediums…

Skype, Yahoo, QQ, MSN, etc. all have earlier versions of streaming or sream like characteristics, but they are not as useful as some of the newer platforms, with the exception of Skype.

Skype, although in use for an extended period of time now, has the advantage of being able to use external apps that increase the usefulness of the tool. I use Pamela and Evaar with Skype, two tools which allow me to record calls and play them back later as I may need. Very handy…

Another handy tool called What’s App is moving in this direction, and the features are ever increasing – you can record short blurbs and send them to others you are connected with, you can send pictures and video clips, and even files to others.

This has ramifications for pushing information to your groups that you create for marketing your products, services, or specials. It can be a great way to build your brand, your authority, and your business.

I have an article on What’s App here that may be of interest to you and help you discover ways that you can use the tool…

Next, let’s look at the third leg of our study today: Videos…

Video

Although this medium has been around forever it seems like, the technological advances that have been incorporated into today’s video make them more effective than ever…

The Hollywood-style productions that just a few years ago were out of reach for the average marketer now are commonplace. The professional looking videos from today were just not possible.

Video as a medium to drive free traffic is probably the second biggest way after content to get the job done. It will pay you dividends when you learn how to do basic video creation, editing, and ranking in the search engines.

It is easier and faster to rank videos than content. Use Youtube as one of your hosting platforms, and you will get a double whammy. Youtube is one of the biggest search engines on the internet, and of course they are owned by Google.

I have posted a number of articles on using tools to create videos, and I would advise you to have a look at some of them and decide what would work for your online marketing program. It’s all about getting as much free traffic as possible, and this is one way to rapidly get started with getting more…

CONCLUSION

OK, today we covered three BIG subjects. Webinars, streaming broadcasts, and videos. There is of course, a lot more information that can be provided on these but the intent was to get your creative juices flowing and motivate you to take action on one or more of them.

If you do take action, there is no doubt that you will get an increase in traffic from the effort. The traffic will not only be increased, you will also be building your brand, your authority, your leads, and conversions.

Tools like webinars can contribute directly to your bottom line, because you can easily monetize these to sell right as you are presenting them, and if set up to where you can have an evergreen webinar, it can make money over and over again for you.

FINAL POINT

Generally, you will find I put a blurb at the end of my posts asking for feedback and input from the readers of the post. I so this because I believe that when we start a discourse and discuss the subject, we all learn more and gain a better insight. Therefore, please take a moment and add to the discussion! Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

  1. Webinars seem like a hard thing to do plus aren’t they expensive? If there was a cheaper solution I would consider them I think. Do you have any solution? On the rest of the information in this tutorial, it all makes sense to me and I will be using your advice in my marketing campaigns…

    1. Hi Mircea, There are some cheap solutions you could use, some even free. You can have the almost the same effect when it comes to effectiveness if you try Blab, Periscope or Facebook Live. These are streaming video platforms where you can have more interaction than with a sales video, and where they can ask questions live from you. Also, with Facebook Live you can add leads very easily and this at NO cost! This almost is the best choice in my mind for today…I have a review and an eCourse available right here if you would like to see what I am talking about…Here is the link: http://davesweney.com/what-is-facebook-live-and-how-can-i-use-it Have fun!
