Having an effective SEO system, plus completing the many other tasking an online marketer needs to do so they can successfully conduct online marketing business, can be an expensive and complicated proposition.

This is especially the case if you are just starting out. There are so many other tools you see on line once you start often it can be quite overwhelming. How to find the tools that will really work for you and help you without spending and arm and a leg?

money1 - Are There ANY Good Free SEO and Other Tools For Your Online Marketing Business?

Background

Let’s start with SEO. Many web themes now come with SEO tools already installed or you can download plugins that will take carry of most of what you need, eliminating requirements for any other tool.

Nonetheless, lots of people are told time and again they need to do more or extra to make chances their site will be ranked higher by Google better. There are also geeks that just like to drill down deep and monitor what is going on with their site.

Personally I think you can do 95% using one of the plug-ins available, and many of these you can use for free, and save yourself a lot of time and trouble. There are so many other things to concentrate on, and yes traffic is driven by good SEO, but other factors are also important.

OK What Now?

So which is right, my view or the gurus out there? I don’t know for certain, but with the Google bot updates that have been implemented, if you do use any tools that are not completely white hat, you risk getting in hot water.

Now for those of you out there that still insist on using more than a standard plug-in for your site (such as All-In-One SEO), which is pretty much what I use, I decided to gather a list of tools and software available to you so you can have a look.…

These are free trial software and tools I have found in my own searches, using many different sources. The list is accurate as of the time of writing this, but of course everything changes on the Internet all the time, so have a look yourself. Then decide…

If you think they may be right for you, try them…See which if any will work for you. Only THEN spend money as you see fit from your own experience…You may find that they are bells and whistles, and save yourself money!

By the way this will work for other different tools and software that may or may not be helpful to you as well. That subject is for another post…The list is below, but first…

Prior to Getting Started

As stated, most of the tools I mention have a free trial period. To maximize the time you have, it pays to know a bit about each, so do some research on them (i.e. reviews, videos, articles, etc.). A simple search will give you plentiful information…

This information will in turn help you make the decision on which to try, and also provide how can most efficiently use of each, right off the bat when you sign up. This way you can immediately get productive with each, and see results during that free period, and better be able to see what is smart to buy and what not.

Plan ahead….Make a list of all of the trials you want to use, and write down what you want to get accomplished during that trial period for each. Don’t overload yourself with getting too much on hand at a time, or you will find yourself not able to get the most out of each, you are overwhelmed.

Make sure you also keep track of the free period remaining for each. Some will require you to provide your credit card but will not charge until the trial period is over with. Cancel those programs you feel do not meet your requirements early enough so that the charge does not take place.

OK, On To Some Free SEO Tools & Software I Have Found

For your ease in getting to what you need, I broke the list into categories below. Here are some free trial tools to set up, track, and monitor a link building campaign. Remember you are not looking for quantity of links here (Google no longer thinks this adds much to the quality of your site), rather the quality (links from sites with authority, real links not fake ones)!

Adding to this post, today I came across what I think is another good page that will be useful for us all, it lists 300+ tools and service sites that we online marketers can use…It was put together by a gentleman named Guaurav Madaan….You can find the page here:http://bit.ly/1F8jzxP

The page contains curated information  on a huge amount of sites that cover different subjects. Once you get there, I recommend bookmarking the page (this one too BTW!) for your use as you build your sites and programs.

Building Tiered Links

Market Samurai – I own and use this software (I am not an affiliate seller). It is one of the best in the business for keyword research and it the same goes for its SEO competition modules.

GSA Search Engine Ranker (5 Day trial) – This tool is like a ‘Swiss Army Knife’ of link building, and it does so by targeting over 120 platforms. It works well for automating your tier 2 and 3 links!

Link Emperor (50 Links for $7) – Link Emperor is a web based service that builds backlinks, easily including private blog network posts & tiers. Remember the quality is what you are looking for, so check out how this tool works and see if it would fit into your program.

Drip Revolution (7 Day Free Trial) – This is a service to help you build a range of social signals for your site , and it does so on the schedule you set up.. It integrates with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+. YouTube & more!

SEO Powersuite (Free Version) – There are several programs here to try and include RankTracker, Website Auditor, SEO Spyglass and Link Assistant. I have not tried any of these but do have several free versions I have picked up from other software buys. I will try it soon.

SENuke XCR (Free 14 Day Trial) – This is a tool I tried but it did not suit me needs. Plus I thought it was too expensive. There are cheaper alternatives out there.

Competitor Analysis

Ahrefs – (Use the Free Version) – They have the largest database of backlinks which you can use to conduct audits of your competitors link profiles to see their best links. You can also conduct an analysis on your own backlink profile.

SEMRush (Use the Free Version) – This tool your competitor’s top keywords, how much traffic they get, who their competitors are in search and much more! I have played with this and like it.

WebMeUp (Free Version) – The free account at WebMeUp will let you take a look at the backlink profile of your site or your competitors. It doesn’t have the largest database of links compared to Ahrefs – but it does have a different database that is worth checking out!

Content Creation

I do NOT recommend using any spinning software to rewrite articles and such. The Google search engines nowadays likely will catch it and you will get penalized. Just. Don’t. Do. It!

Educational Sites

Wealthy Affiliate (7Day Free Trial) – There is no need for more than one entry on this subject. Wealthy Affiliate is is simply the best site on the internet that I have found. Let me expand a bit on why I have only one entry and also added some space here to give you more information than with some of the other tools available…

They have a complete, up to date, and effective all around program that will help you address ALL the needs you may have for Online Marketing, period. This site is easily the number one place I would send the newbie…

You can read a detailed review on this program HERE (CLICK AND A NEW WINDOW OPENS!)Here you will learn everything you need to know from start to finish on how to set your self up for making money online with your own Online Business. The co-founders have a passion for what they do, are involved daily on the site, and are continually improving things there.

This site has been around for 10 years now, a testament as to the efficacy of what they offer. I am a member and will say it was the best thing that happened to me after having been scammed several times and wasting lots of money and time. Try it our yourself and see what I mean…You can get there easily here: WEALTHY AFFILIATE SIGN UP

Here is a picture of their packages available…

Jaaxy – (30 Free Searches) – This is the best program I have found next to Market Samurai. It is easy to use, effective, and does not have a lot of bells and whistles, it just works.

Keyword Research (Free Trial) – This is great for generating keyword ideas and is fantastic for coming up with Google Alerts to monitor. It doesn’t pull in any search volume numbers though so may not be the best all around tool for you to consider using.

  1. Thanks for this excellent post! I am always looking for new tools available that I can try online. My business is small but growing, and I need lots of effective tools and software, but cannot spend lots of money.

Your ideas give me a way to try before I buy. Spending some money is just normal when running a business. Wasting money is not normal. I have seen that there are too many products that simpley are not effective…

One question for you. Why didn’t you add a blurb here about Wealthy Affiliate? This is one of the best free tools I have seen available that not only covers the subjects you mention, but the entire realm of online business!

Thanks for your efforts with this, and I guess you now have your first idea on what to add above for others who happen by this post! By the way, I really like your site, it has so much information laid out nicely.

    Regards,
    Rea

You did that today! Really appreciate it and look forward to more of your excellent feedback! Best of luck to you in your business adventures, and keep coming back please and adding to the conversation here!

  3. Hello admin, do you need some fresh articles on your website?
Daily fresh content will rank your site higher in google, if you are too
lazy to write everyday, search in google!

    1. Yes I agree that fresh articles are nice to have on your site…I am of the sort that will take longer and do a good job rather than put just anything up on my page! Thanks for your advice though and please do come again and let me know what you think about the content here…The intent is to help people that want to make money online. Cheers! Dave

  4. Most small businesses employ a straightforward site and
think a map is not necessary, but no matter how simple
the site, the various search engines start using these maps to find out what your site are about,
providing additional relevancy with a page by page basis. These blogs can re-direct traffic if the keywords employed by the corporation appears considerable time in the discussion of their blog rolls.
Search engines base their assessment and evaluation on the
links and just how they are in connection with webpage content then give their rating depending on relevance.

    1. Thanks for providing your thoughts here. I agree with you that many small businesses do not realize the importance of doing rudimentary SEO work on their pages. Just having your page mapped van improve the rankings and placement on the search page results. This can mean the difference between getting that sale or giving it away be default to the cmpetitor that has taken the time or paid someone to add. Thanks and please stop in again!

Please send me an email if interested. Many thanks!

  7. Very good blog you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any discussion boards that cover the same topics discussed in this article?

I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get opinions from other
knowledgeable people that share the same interest.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
    Cheers!

this information! Thank you! I will return…

on how to gett listed in Yahoo News? I’ve
been trying for a while butt I never seem to get there!
    Thank you

    1. I would try creating an interesting article that adds to a currently popular subject, placing additional information that is not yet being circulated, then promoting it through various platforms such as stumblupon, reddit, etc. There is a good chance it will get picked up! In any case doing all of that will get you more attenetion and site visits! Cheers and best of luck! Dave : )

  18. Helpful information. Lucky me I found your web site by chance, and I’m surprised why this coincidence didn’t happened in advance!
    I bookmarked it.

  19. Hi, i think that i saw you visited my web site so i came to “return the favor”.I’m attempting to find things to improve
my website!I suppose its ok to use some of your ideas!!

    1. Great Raphael! I appreciate that you did stop by! Have a look around and see what you think. I would suggest that you should use the ideas yoyu may get from here to make your own take on the issue…Cheers! Dave : )

    1. Yes you most certainly can get some good views of what others are thinking and doing here. That is exactly what I want this site to be, a site where answers can be provided and new information disseminated for everyone’s use…Cheers! Dave : )

  20. I am really loving the theme/design of your web site. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues?
A couple of my blog audience have complained about my blog not operating correctly in Explorer
but looks great in Opera. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this issue?

    1. I would check with the developer of the theme you are using. They likely have had the same complaint from other users and will have a solution for you. Alternately there may be a forum for that theme, and someone else may have posted a solution. Best of luck! Dave : )

    1. Good that you are stopping by regularly. In 2016 we will be making this a much more active site, and there will be even more content that can help you out. Ideas include training on many IM subjects, more video type blog posts, etc. Cheers! Dave : )

  21. Its like you read my thoughts! You seem to know so much approximately this, such as you wrote the guide in it or something.
I believe that you simply can do with some
p.c. to pressure the message home a bit, however instead of that, that is wonderful blog.

An excellent read. I will definitely be back.

    1. Thanks much and I am glad it has helped you out! Please stop in again, and let me know what you would like to see here iin addition to what we are doing….Cheers! Dave : )

  22. We absolutely love your blog and find many of your post’s to be just what I’m looking for.
can you offer guest writers to write content available
for you? I wouldn’t mind publishing a post or elaborating
on a few of the subjects you write in relation to here.
    Again, awesome web site!

    1. Thanks for the laudatory comments, I do appreciate them….I would be very interested in doing some guest blogs or having a guest blogger. PLease drop me a line and let’s discuss further how we can get this done! Cheers! Dave : )

  24. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content
seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to
let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many
    thanks

    1. Thanks for the heads up, I will have a look. It does no good to provide valuable information on SEO and other tools we can all use if the viewers cannot read the page properly! Cheers! Dave : )

  25. I seriously love your site.. Great colors & theme.
Did you develop this web site yourself? Please reply back as I’m attempting to create my own blog and
want to find out where you got this from or just what the
    theme is called. Kudos!

    1. Glad to hear that you like the theme This is a very basic theme that I think offers lots of opportunities to present the posts in a professional looking manner. This article on SEO and other tools is a helpful one I think for online marketers, but if the visitors click away vefore getting through the post, I have nit done an effective job. This particular theme is called 2014….Cheers! Dave : )

    1. Thanks for the feedback…At this point I am trying to help out others as I have been helped. SEO is a subject that seems to be evergreen but there is so much information out there it can get confusing. Here I am trying to separate the wheat from the chaff lol! Cheers! Dave : )

    1. Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment, always appreciated. I post new information on free SEO and other free tools IM folks can use, soi I urge you to stop by periodically. Cheers! Dave : )

  26. An outstanding share! I have just forwarded this onto a co-worker who had been conducting a little

I discovered it for him… lol. So let me reword this….
Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending the

I have several others that may be of interest to you as well, so please do come back and let me know what you think. 1. Glad you enjoyed I do hope you can use some of these free SEO and other tools mentioned here in your own online marketing program. These are the things that are going to help you make money online from your own business. It is better to earn than spend I think whenever possible, and although an investment of time and money will always apply to having success selling online, oone can keep this cost within reason and still have success. Cheers! Dave : )

    1. Hi Adela,

Please ask any specific question you may have about any of the tools I mention in the post. I will get you the answer or refer you to the proper site. Thre are so many really valuable tools out there on the internet that we have available to us as online marketers. It is a shame to spend money when we can get them for free, and their capabilities are all that we really need. That money can be better spent buying some paid advertising I think to grow your program even more and faster!

      Cheers!
      Dave

If you are even remotely interested, feel free to send

I would like to see what subject may be of most use for you and then we can do a tit for tat guest blog post. It would help both of us and also be useful for our readers! Cheers! Dave : )

  29. Hi Kenton, Thanks for your thoughts and I do try to keep up with some of the newest things going on in the online marketing world we work in. The Daily Blab is helpful in getting curated articles from across the web and posting them in one place. You will find a link here on the site, and of course a copy is also placed on a page here, while the complete paper is elsewhere….Cheers and thanks for the feedback! Dave

  30. Thanks for the many ideas, tips and links you added to this post. There are a lot of things you can get done without spending lots of money. This is important for me, as I am on a limited budget. How much do you spend monthly for your online marketing if I dare ask? What do you think is a reasonable amount to budget for online sales?

  31. I really love your blog…This post on SEO and other tools for online marketers was helpful, and I will take action on several right away. Thanks for your efforts!

  32. Thanks for this list of tools that are free and available online. I am new to online marketing and a post like this helps me out a lot. SEO is a concern for me, I read a lot about it but really do not want to spend much money to get some help. I see you also have a lot of other content here that will help me, I will return!

    1. Hi Jenifer, You are more than welcome, this site is all about providing good information that subscribers and viewers can take action on. Over time, you will see that new content above SEO and free tools is added regularly, right now I have been working for about a year to get the site where it is now. It will continue to improve. Please come back and subscribe if you like, and get even more tips, tools and advice via specials that I send out regularly via email. Cheers! Dave

  33. First off I want to say great blog! I am always on the lookout for articles that provide some free tools for SEO or any of the other tasks I have to get done as an online marketer. This post has provided a few gems for me to use.

On another subject, somewhat related but not exactly, I see your posts are quite long but interesting. Myself, I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any free tools, ideas or hints you could provide me? Thanks!

    1. Hi Antonio,

I am like you…I always will have a glance at an article on free tools either for SEO or other online jobs that have to be done regularly. Using the free ones out there saves money while still saving time…I am glad that you found something here that you can use.

Regarding writer’s block, I generally will do a few different things…One is to peruse the internet searching for articles that may interest me. I read through them and surf some more. I jot down ideas as I go, and then in not too long a period I have a list of possible subjects to write about.

They have to fit in with my overall blog goals of course, and also the information I gather and use to create my own post with my unique take on a subject has to be longer, better, and more thorough than everything I have looked at. This means that I can fit in more points, discuss more thoroughly a subject, and can also add in more keywords and phrases that will be picked up by the bots as they go through my site.

I hope the above has given you an idea and best of luck! Let us know how things go for you, and add in some of your own ideas here in the comment section, please!

      Cheers!
      Dave
